Sponsored by the Renton Seventh-day Adventist church, the 40-Day Marriage Revival is for married couples of all Christian faiths who desire to strengthen and renew the biblical marriage covenant through prayer.
WHY REVIVAL?
An article in the online edition of the L.A. Times (Jan. 17, 2014) reported on a study to be published in the American Journal of Sociology that claims: “Divorce is higher among religiously conservative Protestants – and even drives up divorce rates for other people living around them.”
That’s right. Not only are conservative Christians divorcing more, but we’re a bad influence on others around us. Talk about the “salt” losing its flavor! (Matthew 5:13)
It’s clear that we need a marriage revival, and prayer is the key to revival. (2 Chron. 7:14)
WHY 40 DAYS?
After earlier successes, the disciples of Jesus attempted and failed to deliver a child from a satanic presence. Later, when they questioned Jesus about their failure, Jesus said, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting” (Mark 9:29).
Spiritual strongholds are best demolished by prayer combined with fasting. There are spiritual strongholds destroying marriage today. The 40 Days is a time "fast"--an extended period of time set aside for couples to focus on God and their relationship in prayer. It's a time of remembering, appreciating, confessing, listening, and blessing one another in the name of Christ.
THE RESULT?
"All things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)
